Amid Claims Of Capturing 4 Spies From A Neighbouring Country, Uganda's Top Spy Meets Burundi President Ndayishimiye

Amid claims on Monday that it has arrested 4 spies from Rwanda, Uganda’s top spy, Major General Abel Kandiho travelled to Burundian capital Gitega on Saturday to meet President Evariste Ndayishimiye.
The Chief of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF)‘s Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) also met senior Burundian army officers.
According to the Burundian presidency, President Ndayishimiye and his guest held discussions focusing on strengthening the bilateral relations between Uganda and Burundi.
Gen Kandiho and his host also discussed the progress of the implementation of the agreements recently signed between Burundi and Uganda during the visit to Uganda when Ndayishimiye attended President Museveni’s swearing in and inauguration on May 12th 2021 particularly an agreement to build a road that will link Uganda and Burundi via Tanzania.
Furthermore, Kandiho informed the Burundian leader that President Museveni has already discussed with his Tanzanian counterpart Samia Hassan Suluhu on the plans to start the construction work on this road .
The two leaders also discussed about the regional peace and security and Burundi in particular. Museveni in his message also noted that Uganda will remain alongside the Burundian government in strengthening peace in the country.
